Aka Wildfire C: HTC Gold renders outed

A render of the HTC Gold has just emerged, which looks to be a refresh of the Wildfire S. This entry level device doesn’t pack the punch in specs, but it will in price.
The Wildfire has never attempted to get the attention of those who are just fine spending $200+ on a new smartphone, as it’s pretty much as budget as budget phones get, and we can imagine that HTC wants us to forget about the late Tattoo. Nonetheless, the Golf, which will likely be rebranded as the Wildfire C isn’t packing anything extraordinary under the hood but it should at least come at a decent price. In the budget smartphone world, that’s all you can really ask for.

The Wildfire C doesn’t have the specs to compete with any of the HTC One line. Not even the One V. The entry-level handset will ship with a 3.5 inch HVGA display, likely a single-core CPU with a clock speed of around 600MHz to 800MHz (that’s our guess), 5 megapixel camera, front-facing camera, 512MB RAM, and 4GB internal memory. The handset is lucky enough to get the 25GB of free DropBox storage and the Beats Audio support found on HTC’s more recent devices.

While it should come as any surprise, we’re still thankful that the handset is running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with the new Sense 4.0. Even with a slower processor running the show, the software should still offer up a great experience as long as the RAM isn’t being eaten up by other resources.

It looks like HTC has all of the bases covered with the Wildfire C and One line, and we certainly can’t complain about that. We can expect to see the Wildfire C land some time before the end of the quarter.
